SimpleClosure Bot
This page discloses the automated agent operated by SimpleClosure Inc. ("SimpleClosure"), in line with the Cloudflare Verified Bots program and general good-bot practice.
Who we are
SimpleClosure Inc. (simpleclosure.com) helps founders and operators wind down startups: cancelling vendor contracts and subscriptions, preparing financial accounts to be closed, filing dissolution paperwork, and notifying stakeholders. SimpleClosure maintains SOC 2-level compliance standards for how customer data is handled. Some of those steps are automated by a software agent ("the Bot") that visits third-party sites on our customers' behalf.
What the Bot does
- Customer-initiated only. The Bot never crawls or visits a site on its own initiative. It acts only when a SimpleClosure customer has authorized a specific shutdown task, such as cancelling a named subscription or closing a named account.
- Single-purpose actions. On a target site, the Bot performs the specific action the customer requested (for example, submitting a cancellation or closure form) and then stops. It is not a general-purpose crawler and does not browse beyond the pages needed to complete that action.
- Low, bursty volume. Traffic to any given site is driven by how many SimpleClosure customers have an active shutdown task with that site, not by scheduled or continuous crawling.
What the Bot does not do
- No scraping. The Bot does not harvest, index, or store page content, pricing, or other site data. It reads only what it needs to complete the authorized action.
- No credential storage. Where a task requires signing in to a customer's own account, SimpleClosure does not persist those credentials. They are used transiently to complete the authorized action and are not retained afterward.
- No resale or repurposing of data. Any information the Bot encounters is used solely to complete the customer's requested shutdown task.
How it identifies itself
The Bot sends a stable, descriptive User-Agent on every request:
SimpleClosureBot/1.0
Outbound traffic originates from a fixed, limited set of IP addresses, published as plain text at /docs/simpleclosure-bot-ip-list for verification. Each is a manually-reserved static IP routed through a Cloud NAT gateway scoped to a network subnet used only by the Bot; no other SimpleClosure service shares this egress path, so an address on that list is never reassigned to, or reused by, anything else.
Cloudflare Verified Bots classification
This disclosure corresponds to the following Cloudflare Verified Bots submission:
- Behavior category: Transact / Agent (the Bot carries out a specific transactional action, e.g. submitting a cancellation or closure form, rather than crawling, indexing, monitoring, or fetching content for preview).
- Access type: Intermediary (the Bot always acts on behalf of a SimpleClosure customer to complete an action that customer authorized; it never visits a site under its own authority).
Respecting site owners
- The Bot honors
robots.txt, including crawl-delay directives, for any site it visits. - Request rates are limited to what a single customer action requires; the Bot does not retry aggressively or run in parallel against the same site.
- If a site owner would prefer the Bot not access their site at all, contact us using the details below and we will honor that request.
Questions about this Bot, reports of unexpected behavior, or opt-out requests can be sent to support@simpleclosure.com.
